Happy Valentine's Day!

First of all I'd like to thank Pretty Little Jewels and Twinkle Star for the awards! really appreciate them!

I also would like to wish my dear friend Marianne a very Happy Birthday! I wish you all the good things in life and God Bless you, always! and Happy Valentine's Day to all of you my lovelies, you're all my inspirations. Love you all!

unfortunately, no flowers and/or a box of chocolates for me this valentine as i was shocked to see the price of a dozen of roses when we went to sainsburys last night though hubby offered but i told him I'd rather he bought me a book of craft that costs the same as those roses :) and as for chocolate, well you know i'm on a diet though i'm beginning to get abit pessimistic :p

I spent hours this morning to make this velvet valentine cake and i failed miserably! it tastes weird, it looks weird and blah! I got the recipe Here. I made it for hubby but i feel like throwing it into the bin :P

I also made these mug cosy for hubby and me from the tutorial in Mollie Makes Magazines, Cappuccino for him and tea for me.

I also made the puffy crocheted heart from the tutorial Here, I made several to hang on the twigs on my mantel and cute valentine printables from Here.

That's my February Photo-a-day Challenge for Day 14: Heart entry over at Fat Mum Slim's blog.

Merry Christmas

Yesterday was an exhausting day and im sure i'm not the only who feels that way but it was lovely, thank you for hubby's help in the kitchen and glad that his parents enjoyed the meal :)

The Menu

Lunch drags to Dinner with breaks after each course as the parents came after church and we served hot toddy to warm them up while i was busy in the kitchen checking the roasted veggies and appetizer.

we had red wine with the meals then I accompanied my father in law drinking gin and tonic (his favorite), hubby made irish coffee for all of us while relaxing in the evening watching ratatouille on TV.

I think my father in law and I are quite drunk, poor hubby as he can't drink except one glass of red wine during the meal as he had to drive his parents back home but he made it up afterwards, we stayed up til almost midnight :)

til next year's christmas but i'm so glad now it's over, i looked so tired :)

Woke up late today and going to make bubble and squeak after this. Happy Holidays!

Christmas Do

Yesterday was hectic but fun day as i wasn't prepared at all to go to a christmas do at a friend's house, i thought i wouldnt be able to come as i had to wait for my husband's tv to be delivered by the courier but as it happened the tv arrived early and my friend still wanted me to come anyway so i did but...

I haven't got any pressies for them! so i dashed out of the door armed with wrapping papers, scissor and tape and took a taxi to town and quickly went to the first shop i saw and bought pressies,it was manic and the queue was long! I found a restroom and wrapped them all inside the toilet where i got embarrassed whenever people came inside and looked at me wrapping up the pressies but i didnt care, then tried to find a taxi to go to my friend's house.

I had a lovely time, lovely food and exchanging pressies with all of them, gave each and everyone my gifts, my friends' kids seem to be happy with what i gave them and i just love receiving hugs and cuddles from them!

I have time to rest today but will be busy again tomorrow as hubby wanted to set up the tv and needed my help to clear the space and the old tv etc, baking cake will be on saturday and preparing/cooking the christmas menu/meals for sunday for when hubby's parents will come.

off to bed now :)

The Joy Of Christmas

I have things i wanted to do but never get around of doing it this christmas but there's always next year hopefully :) I'm sure everyone else is also super busy right now that Christmas is 5 days away (time sure flies) but anyways I finally finished making my stocking on Sunday or rather ice skates from Tilda's Christmas Ideas book, i even made one for hubby :)

I even got time to make christmas decorations from a free kit that i got from Cross Stitcher magazine christmas issue, three cute little houses and of course another snowman :)

Yesterday I decided to bake some gingerbread cookies while listening to Elvis Christmas CD that I got from Sunday Mail, I just love the smell of cookies fresh from the oven and can't help having them even before i decorated them with icing sugar, it warms up the house and it's a lovely company for my tea.

I'm going to bake a Yule log perhaps on Friday or Saturday but right now i need to make a shopping list for Christmas Menu as we're going shopping to Sainsburys today.

Wishing everyone a lovely and full of Joy Christmas!

Charity shop saves the day!

I'd like to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and Thank you for all the lovely ladies for your support on my previous post, I feel more lighthearted now that i've sorted out some of the problems and my aches and pains on my wrists are gone so I decided to have a rejuvenating walk to a charity shop yesterday :)

Found these super cute russian doll salt and pepper shaker for £1, they're just too cute for me not to grab them. Though they're probably wont be used but make a cute decoration :)

This gorgeous floral jug is £2.50, I almost didn't get it as someone was holding it when i saw it but I guess coz of the price, she puts it back and so I grabbed it :) ...and last but not least, i got two books for 75p, the Enid Blyton is 50p and the Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is only 25p, I had to rummage through a box full of books to find these! love'em.

I also found something for my Charity Christmas Swap partner an alien world but cant show it here but i'm happy to find something at last as I dont think i have alot of time next week to go to charity shops coz i'll be busy cleaning the house, crafting for my fayre and welcoming a guest into my house and going out with friends :) hopefully i'll be able to send the swap gifts to her early December along with christmas cards for family and friends around the world :) that's all for me, wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

Happy Father's Day

...I know it's late and i was supposed to post this on sunday but it's hard to get online on weekend when hubby's around :) so my tea time tuesday submission this week is all about my dad (eh? what's that got to do with father's day?) oh well...

It's been 9 years, 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days since my beloved papa went to heaven in 2002. Not a day goes by without me missing him, still wishing he was still alive.

He was a hardworker, a loyal and responsible man and the wisest person i've ever known and i'm so fortunate and grateful to be his daughter. He was a journalist and though he rarely home coz he worked too hard for us but when he was he always tried his best to spend alot of time with me and my 4 siblings. He taught me alot about life by showing me himself, i wont write too long as i dont think one page would be enough for me to describe what kind of man he was.

in the span of more than 10 years he had 3 strokes, the first one he was fortunate enough to recover, nothing serious or so we thought back then and i was still in junior high, the 2nd one made him half paralyzed, he could hardly walk but he was so determined to get better with lots of therapy and he even undergone an alternative therapy, it was a miracle that he could walk again and went back to work, despite our protests and asked him to stay at our countryside house, he couldn't sit still, he transformed the the land we had in the countryside into a farm, grew veggies to be sold, but when i graduated and spent more time abroad to study, I was in Singapore when it happened, he had a third storke, this time with other complications, heart attack and kidney failure. After two weeks in the ICU he passed away. I was by his side the day before as they only allowed one person to stay overnight and me and my other siblings took turn and that day he opened his eyes for a few mins, he smiled as if to say it'll be allright but i guess i knew it wont.

It's still hard to find the words to express how i feel, so many things i wanted to say, things that i regret not saying or doing, things i took for granted.. but i know he's still in alive in my heart or watches over me from up there. I made one of his favorite cake, Banana cake wrapped in banana leaf (Recipe click HERE. it's abit hard sometimes to find ingredients for some indonesian delicacies so I had to improvise and sometimes fortunate enough to find some stuff in Asian/Chinese shops here. It doesnt look like the real thing but well the taste is similar enough :)

My dad used to love this with his afternoon tea, I regretted not to learn how to make this from my mom but oh well...at least i used to accompany him eating it and drinking tea with him. well anyways...I'd better stop writing about him as it makes me teary eyed ...sooo...onto something cheery now!

I bought this mug for my father in law, hubby says it would make him laugh..which it does! I really love hubby's father, he's so funny and kind to me, and his birthday is only one day after mine on the same month too! he used to work in a merchant ship, travelled around the world. He loved to share his stories with me and we became drinking partners as he loves gin and tonic like i do! He's not feeling well recently and I always pray for his health as i really really love him! always hug and kiss me with warmth everytime we meet, always on my side when hubby teased me and always winked in a cheeky way to make me smile!

We had a nice lunch at hubby's parents followed by a game of chinese chequers that my mother in law still has it as it was a gift that her late father gave her when she was a child, to think that my mother in law's age is now over 70 years old! but of course i won all the time though i've never played it before hehe

Sorry for a non related tea post today but if any consolation, i'm drinking tea while typing this hehe. Happy Father's Day too all fathers in the world!

Have a Tealicious Time!

Tea Time with Mrs. Bunny

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter! It's been a long weekend, hubby and I spent mostly at home watching Stargate Series that he forced onto me coz it's only fair as i have been forcing him watching the historical drama movies such as Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre :)

I then asked him nicely to go to town yesterday as I need to buy a few things for my craft and also for the 100 followers giveaways that I'll post after this entry.

My Easter was a relaxing one, we had hot cross buns with tea and i was using my Mrs.Bunny teapot that I bought from charity shop awhile back, My teacup is from Johnson Bros. Hubby bought a Big golden choc easter eggs and two cute choc easter bunnies from Lindt for both of us which didn't last long after we opened it :)

I tried to embroider a napkin from the pattern that i saw in one of my SEW magazine of an alice in wonderland theme but I can only finished one napkin as i didnt have much time so excuse the simple photos above :)

I've been working on a cross stitch that hopefully it'll be finished before the royal wedding on friday! another longgg weekend, wohoo!
