Dominoes Pendant

Remember the Dominoes that I bought awhile back from the charity shop for 40p? i finally could make good use of it and make them as pendants, although unfortunately it's not the tiled ones but rather wooden dominoes, however i'm happy with the result :)

Materials:

* Dominoes (wooden or tiled ones)
* PVC Glue/ Mod Podge (i'm using Mod podge)
* Scrapbook paper/printed images of your choosing
* scissor
* 3D diamond glaze/ I'm using Anita's 3D Clear Gloss Finish Liquid Embossing
* E6000 glue/any strong super glue
* Bails/Findings
* Necklace

I used the theme of Alice in Wonderland simply because i love it and the pendant can be used both sides too :) I'm going to put this in my online shop as soon as i get all the neccessary things as I still dont have enough necklace for each of them.

..and hopefully i'll find the tiled dominoes so i can make more :)

Strawberry Scented Soap

I always wanted to make my own scented candles after seeing some posts about it from my lovely blogger friend Florence and Mary but i think i'll wait till winter comes near christmas so I decided to make scented soaps instead, I read the tutorial from "Homemade" Magazine that i bought awhile back, so I'm going to share it with you if you're interested to make them :)

Materials:
*400g white "Melt and Pour" soap base
*2 drops of cranberry liquid color
*50 drops of your choosen fragrance oil (i used strawberry)
*Spray bottle filled with surgical Spirit
*square or rectangular silicone baking mould
*Heart shaped cookie cutter or any other shape
*Ribbons and wooden skewer optional

1. Melt the "Melt and Pour" soap base in a microwave till fully melted and become liquid.

2. Then add your fragrance oil, stir slowly

3. Add your liquid color and stir again.

4. Then pour it onto your baking mould, slowly

5. There will be little bubbles but no worries coz when you spray the surgical spirit the bubbles will disappear, but hey, nothing's perfect :)

6. wait till the soap hardened, i tend to leave it as long as i can but you can always check from time to time up to half hour perhaps? but it doesnt take long for the soap to hardened.

7. took out from the silicone baking mould and start using your cookie cutter to make any shape you want and you can even skewer two holes on it to put ribbon if you desire. That's it! it smells good!

is it that time of the month already?

We went to Sainsburys for weekly grocery shopping yesterday and as usual, we picked up hubby's mom and helped her with her shopping as well. Finally I can wear summer dresses as the sun is shining and the weather is warming!

..what i didn't know was that my period came early *eeekss* so went to get the period pads in one of the isle and saw this!

I know i'm pathetic, they give a free tin box when you buy one pack of "Always" period pads wuahahahaha. okay serious now...I saw in my previous post that the twigs i painted last winter looks abit bare in the photo, so I decided to use transparent wrapping paper to make little cherry blossoms.

it looks nicer now that the twigs got little flowers on them, I'm happy with it :)

Where have all the Laundry Pegs Gone?

That's what hubby asked when we went to sainsburys for grocery shopping and I picked up another packet of wooden pegs, I just answered that I used the old pegs for my craft projects and I'm not too happy about the result so i'm gonna need more to do it again. He shook his head.

I bought another magnetic sheet, this time is abit thicker and it's still in A4 size. I cut them in small sizes to fit the back of the pegs and glued them and tried them on the fridge, it holds okay.

I'm still new in doing decoupage, seems like I'm not happy with the result but it's okay, i'll keep trying till im satisfied, I got another packet of pegs that ready to be used :)

Faux Vintage Jars

I've been drooling over Vintage Mason Jars and Apothecary Jars for awhile now ever since I've seen them in many of my friends' blogs and I havent been lucky enough to find those in my local charity shops, so I was browsing people's blogs and lucky to find some tutorials on how to make faux Vintage Jars and it's quite simple too!

1. I have quite a few of empty used jars from Pickled Onion, Olives, Tomato Chutney etc that I'm glad that I dont throw them away for recycle.

2. Clean them up and peel off the label from them, I soaked them in a hot water, once cleaned and dry, it's ready for painting.

3. I use 2 tsp of Mod Podge, half tsp of water and 4-5 drops of food coloring, i chose blue color for the coloring, if you want turquoise color, add one drop of green. you can experiment with the color, depends on what you want, if you want darker shade you can add more drops of food coloring. mix all these together with a brush.

4. Brush the jar however you want as long as it's cover the outer part, once dried, it'll be clear.

5. The problem with this project is that it can be easily washed off by water, so I wont wash the jars forever :) so its purpose only to be a storage jar and if I had to use it as a flower vase, I had to be careful in pouring the water inside as to not spilt to the outer side.

6. The result is quite satisfying :)

Fabrics Transfer Pillows

I've been drooling seeing lots of talented bloggers made fabrics transfer pillows using Citra Solv, I've searched every shops in my town that could possibly sell Citra Solv but no such luck, they dont even sell it on ebay or amazon UK. So desperate moment call for desperate measure, since Citra Solv is a cleaner and degreaser, I thought to myself, maybe any brand of cleaner and degreaser will do. I rummaged my cleaning bottles in the kitchen and found Mr. Muscle and Cillit Bang. these two might work, I thought to myself and chose Mr. Muscle first for my first experiment in a small piece of fabric.

So it works! I'm ecstatic! then I brave myself to do the real deal.

1. I sew a plain white pillow cover the size of A4 or abit bigger.

2. Then I fill the pillow cover with newspaper coz I dont want the ink to seep through to the back cover.

3. I printed out an A4 size of a design and use the Mirror effect in photo editor.Please note that I use InkJet printer, i dont think it'll work on Laser printer coz you need the ink to seep through to the fabrics and you'll be putting the design face down.

4. Pour a little liquid from Mr.Muscle or Citra Solv into a small bowl and you'll need a glove if you so wish (I didnt) and a small paint brush.

5. Put the design face down and tape the corners so it wont move around and secured.

6. Brush the design with Mr. Muscle, do not over soaked it or the Ink will get everywhere and make the design blur. Then use the back of the spoon to press the design that already wet so it would transfered to the fabrics more firmly, do this tapping with the spoon 2 to 3 minutes then you can see the result!

I made three pillows with different designs from The Graphics Fairy, I made one with my husband's and my name's on it with the date of our wedding, not perfect as this is my first try but I kinda happy with the results though there's blur here and there, or i get impatient and peek if the ink has seeped through but it didn't :)

I bought a set of 4 Linen napkins from £1 store awhile back and it's the perfect size to make them as pillows coz they have laces around them :)
