Altering that Vintage Dress

This is my first time trying the sewing machine on clothes, it looks easy when i read or watch the tutorial online but it's not coz i'm still learning how to sew and i'm too lazy to hand sew it.

Anyways, I bought this dress in a charity shop awhile back for under £3 and thought it's cute but when i wear it, it looks so ridiculous on me, it swallows me up and the skirt is just too long, so it stayed in my wardrobe for a long time until last week as i was browsing online and found the tutorial on how to cut it and re-hem it.

I got rid off the pads on the shoulders, shortened the length of the skirt...though i was having trouble trying to iron it flat as the skirt is pleated and sew it straight is tough, the needle kept on going sideways! but anyways who would want to examine it closely? i like the result! what do you think?

I think i deserve a hot chocolate with marshmallows in it after that and i think i'll be wearing it at my friend's birthday dinner party next week :)

I still have a few clothes that i bought in charity shops that I wanted to get my hands on altering them next time.

I'm happy when i can make lovely things and happier when i can finish what i make. I made these cute apple cosy from the tutorial in Mollie Makes Magazine.

Day 12: Inside your closet

I've been accompanying my mother in law going back and forth to the hospital as my father in law was admitted on monday scheduled for an operation for his prostate condition. I've been feeling not to good either as i was out in the cold rain yesterday but hopefully just a few sniffles and wont get worst.

The shoes is Primark and the knee length socks is New look that i bought on January Sale in Brighton :)

Cheese and Chocolate scones that my dear friend gave me yesterday, bless her! She always share what she bakes! yummy!

I just made these cute little bows, it's fast and easy as i dont have alot of time today :) Thanks to the tutorial in youtube Here.

Peter Pan Collar

I'm still crazy about Peter Pan collar since last year, I really want all of my dresses/tops that are plain on the collar to have Peter Pan Collar on them :P but since I don't think i have the budget to hunt down and buy every clothes that are cute and have Peter Pan collar on them, I have to resort on making it myself.

I found a tutorial to make the collar yourself from Transientexpression blog, Thanks to google and of course the lovely and talented Rachel who made and shared the tutorial, I finally can make my first Peter Pan Collar! but...

I made a mistake! i was so impatient that i didn't read it carefully the part where you should turn the dress/top inside out when you pin the collar and sew two seams on the collar! aaacckkk ...and when i printed out the pattern for the collar i forgot to set up the size so i think it looks bigger on the dress! i'm so tempted to pick my stitches and start from the beginning but i dont want to ruin my dress! (though it's a cheap dress coz I know i'll be experimenting and if it's ruined, i wont feel that bad)

I've learnt my lesson, i can see the stitches on the collar to the dress and it's not neat at all but i'll only wear it at home anyway but will try and make again and when i get the hang of it, i'll try and make something out of laces or different fabrics for the collar :)

Weekend Update

Just a short post on saturday since nothing much going on, the day's been wet and gloomy anyways and i'm spending it so far by watching tv while crocheting :)

I did managed to pop by at a charity shop near my house yesterday, though abit disappointing as I couldn't find anything i like except these;

a Country Tea Parties book with lovely illustrations inside for 50p and a wild flower card game for 30p. that's it! :)

..and just thought to take a random shot of my skorts (skirts + shorts) after doing my ironing session. Wishing everyone a brighter weekend!

Summer Sale

The other day when a friend of mine picked me up and went to town, she didn't just took me to the job centre, after i dropped some job applications, we checked out some shops in town, I guess summer sale has started but i have to refrain to splurge though i'm so tempted! I managed to buy some that were on Sale.

A floral Dress with belt at Beales: was £27 bought it at £9
Cropped Denim Jacket at Next: was £32 Now £15
Necklace at New Look: was £6.99 Now £3.50
floral Tights at River Island: bought it for £3

Though it was drizzling and I had to pay the price of getting cold but i'm much better now, still abit of sniffles left but I also managed to buy some stuff from a charity shop too.

More Cross Stitch Projects complete with the wooden frames £3.50 for three, Mini vintage silver wine cooler £1.50, a pair of floral design Pomander for £1, Paragon floral design dish ware for £2 and of course I always, always check boxes with 50p each in every charity shops coz who knows you might find something worth buying like those Rose scented drawers liners (unopened), The Victorian Photo album and one pepper shaker with cherry design (i cant find the other one!) but for 50p each i didn't think twice of bagging them :)

I also bought two magazines that i'm going to be enjoying browsing through them today while wasting a box of tissues coz not only i got a cold, i also got hayfever, urgh but at least the weather is improving today!

Pink Saturday

Yay! it's weekend again, not that i have anything exciting at weekends, mostly just stay at home, relaxing with hubby but i always look forward to weekends as i have hubby's company for the whole two days! (i feel lonely on weekdays when he's working and i'm at home alone hehe).

This saturday however, one of my friends has her relative came to england from Indonesia for summer holiday and she asked me and others to welcome her relative by throwing a girls' night out party. I don't feel like going but one of my friends who lives near me says it wouldnt be fun without me *awwww am i a clown? hehe* but i'm touched and she even will pick me up later. I feel bad leaving hubby alone on saturday night, he will be lonely :)

..and no, i wont be using the pink bag and the pink top tonight, it's my contribution for pink saturday, i'd probably wear something dark..something black. as usual, but i always bring my small CK compact mirror in my bag.

It's been very windy these couple of days but i need to spray weed killer at the backyard later, not fun at all. I hope everyone will have a great Weekend! x

Oh Bugger!

I yelped somewhere in the night coz my hair was stuck underneath hubby's big arm and i was about to turn to the other side in my sleep, felt like a chunk of it was pulled from my scalp! must remind myself to cut it soon, getting hotter in bed anyway then I Woke up with a stiff in my neck and right shoulder, had to sit upright and it's painful to turn my head to the right, been rubbing tiger balm since this morning *sigh*.

Thanks to my dear blogger friend Bee Happy for telling me about this magazine that gives a free Cath Kidston's Tote bag that i bought yesterday at sainsburys, I'm taking it easy today and enjoying flipping through the magazine that also gives 15% discount at Cath Kidston, I might use it next month as too much expenses this month already.

despite my stiff neck, i did however decided to make an easy peasy nothing fancy fabric heart bunting with leftover fabrics I have, it takes only 5 mins and i'm back to being bored ..so..i decided to take a peek in the spare bedroom and took out my summer dresses from last years..they could do with re-washing and ironing but i gotta take photos first.

... I'm abit worried now that they might not fit me anymore as i notice i've been gaining weight since christmas, not up to trying them on with my stiff neck but i'll try them after they've been washed and ironed tomorrow, i do hope they're still fit me coz they're my fave dresses!

Thankful Sunday

I would like to give a BIG thank you to Scarlett for nominating me for her Blog Award, I must say I'm so touched by it and never thought that my blog deserves it at all and I also want to congratulate her for recieving a Blog Award, now THAT is a well deserved one because her blog is so inspiring and I always enjoy visiting her blog and look forward to her post on her finds from car boot sales to thrift stores/charity shops, She's got the talent and the skill for bargaining and finding treasures! Do say hello and visit her blog by clicking her button below :)

....I never want the weekend to end! especially when my husband took me down town for shopping, now I dont shop for clothing often, not even once a month and when I do, I tend to see if there's a Sale going on in the shops. I fully aware our financial problem when there are lots of job cuts going on at the moment and my husband is the only person who puts food on the table because I still have no luck finding a job for myself and help him financially.

Anyways, I went to "New Look" today and they're having a SALE! I bought three dresses for £15 and i'm fortunate enough to find a dress with my size as I saw some that I like but they dont have my size. I am so grateful for my husband for trying to make me happy and I'm blessed to have him as my husband, Thank you for the shopping trip! xoxo

Note: The brown with black collar (the biggest image) and the Black and white striped (smaller image on the left) are the dresses I bought in New Look, the floral and black dress (on the left) I bought in separate occasion months ago, I didn't put the 3rd dress i bought coz i wanted the picture to have a theme which is Collared Dresses (not sure what's the proper fashion word for those) :)

I wish everyone have a great and Blessed Sunday!

My Precious Camera

It's Saturday! I always look forward for weekends although I'm not working but it's where i can spend alot of time with my beloved and where I have a company and not feeling lonely.

This pink saturday I wanted to share a photo of my pink Lumix camera, the most precious and trusted companion that was given to me on my 30th Birthday from my husband 3 years ago and because of this camera, I enjoy my hobby more which is taking pictures, I take alot of pictures wherever i go, whatever I do, whoever I meet. Sadly the camera in the picture below is no longer in use because of my stupid clumsiness (I'm such a klutz), I dropped it one day about a year ago when I tried to use the little tripod that apparently was wobbling, I cried and cried and thought I had to use the old camera which has not flash and timer option that I brought with me when I first came here but hubby surprised me when a few days later, a package delivered for me and it's another pink Lumix camera in it!! I cant stop thanking him for what he did, he bought me the same model and exactly the same camera to replace the one which is broken.

Since then, i try to be more careful with the camera that I'm using now although it's so hard to keep it unscratched as i've always been clumsy all my life, I still keep that broken camera as a reminder and a keepsake that I treasured it and when it was used, I couldn't take a picture of it and now it becomes my model in a picture, I love that camera so much!

Happy Pink Saturday!

Knit meets Purl

The sun is shining outside but i fancy abit of knitting, I love bows and when i was a child, i remembered my mother always put some bows, either on my hair as a pin or on my dresses, I decided to knit a bow to put on my red dress that is made of wool, I chose red and white as it goes with the dress and I also knitted a union jack patchwork (i think that is what it's called) just because i had some more spare time after I finished the bow.

...and i always thought that I feel like a five year old trapped in a 32 years old body, I still feel like i'm a child who loves to play dressing up game with those cute little bows on my dress or on my hair, I'd like to share some of my bows collection on the dress, coat, top, shoes, hair and even on a ring that I bought when I moved to England 3 years ago and needed a new wardrobe, I just can't get enough of it...

I will be busy cleaning my kitchen from top to bottom the whole day tomorrow, i must say I dont particularly like the thought but one got to do what one got to do, right? Have a wonderful day!

Pink Saturday

I Love everything in pink, well almost everything. I decided to post this pink dress, one of my favorite dress that i bought a long time ago in a shop down town as well as the pink shoes and legging. I just love the floral pattern on the dress, i think everything looks so pretty in pink :)

The pink flowers are artificial and it gives a nice touch to it :)

The dress is actually strapless and coz it's winter time, I had to wear the cardigan so I wont be freezing when i took this pic on the patio outside my back garden.
