Back for Awhile

Hello Everyone! sorry for a long absence due to No Laptop condition, hubby couldn't fix it fast enough as he and his colleague who said that he could try and help fix the laptop were also busy at work and when they did, it's not totally fixed. The good news is the laptop is up and running again, the bad news is they said the monitor is failing so if I use it longer than an hour, the screen started to go weird and there are lines came up filling up the screen and that's the sign i have to switch it off to cool it off :(

But anyways, we know it's an old laptop and we need to buy a new one sooner or later but not at the moment as money is tight and i have other probs that are more important to think about but I hope everyone is doing fine and gosh! I miss blogging and most of all, reading all of you lovely ladies' blog posts! I know i got a lot to catch up but bear with me with this ol' broken laptop of mine, i'll visit your blogs as best as i can.

If there's any consolation, i'm grateful to my android phone, i can still twittering, facebooking and chat on the phone though it's limited of course. I guess it's a training for me who used to cant live without internet! and my going back for a holiday to my country Indonesia is drawing near too, if everything goes smoothly i'll be flying there on end of june and will be spending my time with my family for about two months! I do hope i can stay away from the computer that long coz i dont think i'll have the chance to go online once i'm there but i hope i could! (already envision myself fighting over one computer with 4 nieces and nephews) :)

I need to go off now but I'll be back blog hopping tomorrow morning as it's abit late now, i will also try to blog about things i made on my absence in the blog world. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

First of all I'd like to thank Pretty Little Jewels and Twinkle Star for the awards! really appreciate them!

I also would like to wish my dear friend Marianne a very Happy Birthday! I wish you all the good things in life and God Bless you, always! and Happy Valentine's Day to all of you my lovelies, you're all my inspirations. Love you all!

unfortunately, no flowers and/or a box of chocolates for me this valentine as i was shocked to see the price of a dozen of roses when we went to sainsburys last night though hubby offered but i told him I'd rather he bought me a book of craft that costs the same as those roses :) and as for chocolate, well you know i'm on a diet though i'm beginning to get abit pessimistic :p

I spent hours this morning to make this velvet valentine cake and i failed miserably! it tastes weird, it looks weird and blah! I got the recipe Here. I made it for hubby but i feel like throwing it into the bin :P

I also made these mug cosy for hubby and me from the tutorial in Mollie Makes Magazines, Cappuccino for him and tea for me.

I also made the puffy crocheted heart from the tutorial Here, I made several to hang on the twigs on my mantel and cute valentine printables from Here.

Merry Christmas

Yesterday was an exhausting day and im sure i'm not the only who feels that way but it was lovely, thank you for hubby's help in the kitchen and glad that his parents enjoyed the meal :)

The Menu

Lunch drags to Dinner with breaks after each course as the parents came after church and we served hot toddy to warm them up while i was busy in the kitchen checking the roasted veggies and appetizer.

we had red wine with the meals then I accompanied my father in law drinking gin and tonic (his favorite), hubby made irish coffee for all of us while relaxing in the evening watching ratatouille on TV.

I think my father in law and I are quite drunk, poor hubby as he can't drink except one glass of red wine during the meal as he had to drive his parents back home but he made it up afterwards, we stayed up til almost midnight :)

til next year's christmas but i'm so glad now it's over, i looked so tired :)

Woke up late today and going to make bubble and squeak after this. Happy Holidays!

The Joy Of Christmas

I have things i wanted to do but never get around of doing it this christmas but there's always next year hopefully :) I'm sure everyone else is also super busy right now that Christmas is 5 days away (time sure flies) but anyways I finally finished making my stocking on Sunday or rather ice skates from Tilda's Christmas Ideas book, i even made one for hubby :)

I even got time to make christmas decorations from a free kit that i got from Cross Stitcher magazine christmas issue, three cute little houses and of course another snowman :)

Yesterday I decided to bake some gingerbread cookies while listening to Elvis Christmas CD that I got from Sunday Mail, I just love the smell of cookies fresh from the oven and can't help having them even before i decorated them with icing sugar, it warms up the house and it's a lovely company for my tea.

I'm going to bake a Yule log perhaps on Friday or Saturday but right now i need to make a shopping list for Christmas Menu as we're going shopping to Sainsburys today.

My Christmas Tree

My first craft fayre was abit disappointing despite the planning i made the night before, i still forgot things that i supposed to bring and i forgot my camera too! I guess people has finished shopping for christmas presents hence the lack of people who came to the fayre today though i'm thankful that i managed to sell a few things and still make a profit about £25 (£10 i had to pay for the table) :) it lasted til' 2pm and hubby picked me up and we went to sainsburys to buy turkey crown as we're inviting his parents on Christmas day.

We finally put up our Christmas tree today and had a relaxing afternoon watching Black Swan, Narnia The Voyage of the Dawn Trader and The Legend of The Guardians. I even managed to make a quick Snowman Ornament from the Tilda's Christmas Ideas book for the top of my tree, i'll make one more tomorrow and also going to try and make christmas stockings for the same book too! :)

Let it Snow..

I don't know if we who live in the south will ever get snow this year or not but i do hope we do get snow though i know hubby prays the opposite! anyways, remember the crocheted snowflakes i did awhile back? I finally had time to finish it (about 40pieces) and hang them up on the window.

Our Tv has decided to go weird on us these couple of days, hubby is worried that it might stopped working anytime soon considering it's already 8 years old so he decided to order a new one via amazon and told me that it'll be our christmas gift..(what?)

But i do hope he got my hints to check my books' wishlist in his amazon account and at least buy me something from the wishlist! :P

I got a cute Christmas card from the gorgeous Lakota and it's pink! Thank you!

I'm going to try making a few things from Tilda's Christmas Ideas book that i bought awhile back. Will keep you posted when i succeeded :P

Guilty Pleasures

I went out to for a lunch date yesterday at a friend's house in Chichester with some other friends, She made Indonesian food and spoilt us with delicious cakes that she made herself, dark chocolate roulade and white chocolate roulade drizzled with raspberry coulie and lemon drizzled cake, they're insanely delicious, totally Heaven!

I just gotta ask for the recipes! she said she left out the flour when making the roulade and what a difference in the taste! I got home quite late only to receive a disappointing message from my friend who supposed to be the guest in our house next week, to cut a long story short, she changed her plan and will be staying in a Hotel in London and will try to take a train to my place for a day trip to meet me and spend a day with me. I guess disappointment is an understatement but i can't blame her, after all London is a much interesting place for tourists :(

Thankfully I haven't canceled my craft fayre and i still can go to see The Saturdays' concert in Brighton with my friends, so i'm not that upset :) but i guess now i can resume to making more craft things to sell and not worrying about anything else and besides I now like the clean and tidy look of my spare bedroom :)

..that i've won a giveaway from Plum & Ivory via my dear blogger friend Lakota a few days ago and look how cute she is!

Thank you so much! it arrives today and I'm a happy birdie! she's got the perfect spot to perch too!

Glass Artworks on the doors and some windows in my house, possibly created by the previous owner of the house, can't get rid of them as i have to buy the whole new doors and windows in order to do so which i can't afford. So might as well enjoy them :)

Off to go weekly shopping.

Wet Weekend

It's been raining on and off since saturday, I've been forced to stay indoor, not that i'm complaining, i love rain :) and we dont have any plan to go out anyway, just cuddle up watching The Mentalist, new series of Camelot and the Sorcerer's apprentice on TV.

Everytime, i tried to sneak in to the computer room between adverts, hubby was quick to distract me and basically changed into a 5 year old who doesnt want to be left by himself *sigh* no peace of getting online on weekends for me. I did manage to make a second frame from paper to accompany the one that i made last week :)

The Jute twine around it was abit messy though as i was in a hurry and i used alphabet stamps for the words, aren't i sappy? hehe.

On another note, my mother in law never ceases to amaze me in her belief of me not killing another plants, she keeps giving me plants! I do hope I wont kill them this time but im pessimistic :) I hope everyone's weekends are more sunnier and more fun than me :)

I'll be sneaking again to visit other people's blogs on the next adverts, i have to type this very quickly! I miss everyone's posts *sobs*.

Hey June, Don't let me down

I can't believe it's June already! ... and I'm still broke and jobless *sinking in despair*. I was thinking of buying a gift for hubby for our 3rd wedding anniversay on the 6th of June but we can't even afford to go out for a meal to celebrate. I don't mind though as i have planned to make a cake and cook something delicious on Sunday for us at home but i feel bad that i still can't help our financial problem and he's one who doesn't like to use credit cards and prefers to pay everything from his saving eventhough it means that we dont have much left in the account *sigh*.

But, I must be optimistic and see the brighter side of this situation and keep on trying my best hahahaha *tragic laugh*, So! in a frustrated and angry state, I destroy one of the book that i bought in charity shop long time ago to make heart bunting! I feel much better already hehe.

I got the inspiration from the talented Craftberrybush, I painted the inside of the paper heart with red acrylic paint then hung it on top of my mantel.

I have a few canvas frames that I've been keeping for awhile now to practice painting but i already gave up on painting as i suck at it, i think i bought it for less than a pound, cant remember now. I decided to use it with my paper heart.

I slab modpodge glue on the canvas and put pieces of paper on it till it's all covered, i made a heart paper and burnt the edges with my lighter and used red acrylic paint again inside the heart and glue it in the middle of the frame, lastly i used jute twines for the edges of frame and glued it. Voila!

Easy and cheap crafts, I'll be doing more crafts with the left over paper as the book that i ripped out is quite thick. Until then....June, please don't let me down! :)
