Surprises and a Crush..

I received a lovely parcel yesterday from Magie at TeacupsandBunting along with a lovely card from Jem at BeautifulClutter, I really am touched and so happy to receive them, Thank you!

Magie sent me a cute heart shaped cushion hanger with super cute bunting card. i love the lip gloss she gave too, the color is just perfect and the crocheted flower is so fun and bright, thank you Magie! The parcel is beautifully wrapped and i just love the doodle she made, she's just so creative.

Jem sent me a beautiful Tea Time card from Wedgwood, it's so beautiful and I'm so touched reading what she wrote to me, i really thank you so much!

As i was re-organizing my stuff, I have this bundle of scrap fabrics that are too small to use them as small projects and don't have the heart to throw them either as i might have an idea on how to use them on something which i did, I have some unused picture frame that i got from charity shop a long time ago, so I just sort of decoupage the scrap of fabrics onto the frame and layer them.

I think i like the result and it is now has its uses to display the lovely cards i got from my friends :) I feel a crush coming on and i really want to make more and perhaps use the much more smaller scraps for a different project as i still have alot more of scrap fabrics lying around...

Paper Mache Shoes Box

While sorting old magazines and newspaper (while the weather is wet and gloomy), I had an idea of using the cath kidston's catalogues that i've been getting every month as a craft project that i saw a long time ago while browsing the internet from someone's blog (cant remember now), i found an old shoes box and use the catalogues as paper mache, i love the result :)

it took me awhile to make it as i was also trying to sort out other old magazines and being surrounded by magazines and cut up magazines can make you abit dizzy and almost gave up and just wanted to throw them all into the recycle bin!

I wanted to cover the inside of the box too but as the time was pressing that my husband was already on the way home from work and i didnt fancy him coming home into a floor covered magazine in the living room, so i just leave it as is and cleared the floor. But i like the look of every sides of the box :)

Cross Stitch Mural

I came across a lovely blog called Craftberry Bush last year and admire her creative and talented works as well as her photography skill that I just love. I think it was in January that I happened to pop by her blog again and saw her creation of cross stitch mural and heart pillow she made that blew me away, I wish I can draw like her but I can't but anyway I read her blog post on the cross stitch mural she made that led me to the original creator of the mural itself, a very talented and creative lady by the name of Eline Pellinkhof, she created a beautiful cross stitch mural that i can't help but try and make myself!

Eline Pellinkhof is a designer,an illustrator and an author of home decoration books, i'm in love with her creations but sadly all of her books are in dutch language and although my sister who lives in the netherlands offered me to buy her books over there for me, I hate to say that I need to be able to understand what she wrote and would rather wait until she published her books in english :)

I tried and made my version of cross stitch mural by using the leftover canvas I had and printed out a simple small rose image on my photo editor that i changed it into pixels, there are online converters out there to help you transform any image/photo into pixel/cross stitch pattern, i want it to be simple and easy to follow then I just used my laura ashley's paints and a small brush and just painted lots of cross-es where the pixel indicated by little squares on the image :)

the problem is you cant really see the shape of the rose if you see it close but you can see the shape of it when you stand further away :) but i'm happy although i still dont dare do it on the wall :P

I'm not surprised when i saw her featured in February Mollie Makes magazine (issue 11) with her beautiful cross stitch mural! I just love her and cant wait to get her book!

I also love the free gift from mollie makes, a free kit to make a cute babushka doll keyring :)

Back for Awhile

Hello Everyone! sorry for a long absence due to No Laptop condition, hubby couldn't fix it fast enough as he and his colleague who said that he could try and help fix the laptop were also busy at work and when they did, it's not totally fixed. The good news is the laptop is up and running again, the bad news is they said the monitor is failing so if I use it longer than an hour, the screen started to go weird and there are lines came up filling up the screen and that's the sign i have to switch it off to cool it off :(

But anyways, we know it's an old laptop and we need to buy a new one sooner or later but not at the moment as money is tight and i have other probs that are more important to think about but I hope everyone is doing fine and gosh! I miss blogging and most of all, reading all of you lovely ladies' blog posts! I know i got a lot to catch up but bear with me with this ol' broken laptop of mine, i'll visit your blogs as best as i can.

If there's any consolation, i'm grateful to my android phone, i can still twittering, facebooking and chat on the phone though it's limited of course. I guess it's a training for me who used to cant live without internet! and my going back for a holiday to my country Indonesia is drawing near too, if everything goes smoothly i'll be flying there on end of june and will be spending my time with my family for about two months! I do hope i can stay away from the computer that long coz i dont think i'll have the chance to go online once i'm there but i hope i could! (already envision myself fighting over one computer with 4 nieces and nephews) :)

I need to go off now but I'll be back blog hopping tomorrow morning as it's abit late now, i will also try to blog about things i made on my absence in the blog world. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Bird Brooches (Part Two)

After I've done my 1st batch of bird brooches in the previous post Here, I started the 2nd batch with different design, this time the bird is in the cage, well sort of anyway :)

Thanks to Zakkalife for sharing the tutorial on how to make these cuties. I only have 3 more items to make (10 each) then I'm done and i can start doing christmas decorations *hopefully*

I'm supposed to go to London today but my friend just replied my msg late last nite saying she could only meet me on saturday as she just booked a last minute day tour to Salisbury for today, Thanks God she let me know before i dashed out of the door this morning to take the train to london Victoria! She also said she cuts her holiday short and will be flying back to Indonesia on Sunday. Wish me luck that i wont get lost or having any kind of probs on my way to London for the first time on my own tomorrow and got back home safe and sound before dinner , if she doesnt cancel it again and says she cant meet me at all :)

Fun with Felts :)

I decided to use my felt stocks to make brooches, i'm glad i can manage to make 10 of these cute birds, i'm using the bird template from Cath Kidston Stitch book.

I'm in the process in making 10 more of a different bird design, so hopefully will be done today and off to do another craft project, maybe cushion heartshaped hanger, i dont know yet. I showed hubby of my brooch and his comment was, is it a penguin? *DOH* :)

I can't wait to finish everything so i can start on my christmas decorations, i see some of you have put up the christmas tree! accckk I'm sooo behind in this! My friend has arrived in London today and she's trying to lure me to accompany her galivanting around London coz she said it's no fun to go sightseeing alone. I don't think i can afford to pay the hotel and tickets to see Madame Tussauds, London Eye and a Harry Potter tour etc, so if I had to go, it'll probably just a day to spend walking around outside the Buckingham palace and Big Ben and taking her pics *sigh*

I still haven't reply her and she knows that i'm the type who can't say NO, i'm thinking like maybe this is also a way of saying she doesnt want to go all the way to my place if I said Yes to meet her and accompany her in London? I'm feeling rather unmotivated now :(

will keep you posted about this but meanwhile these cute bird brooches cheered me up a little. :)

Cute as a Button

I actually started this project somewhere in June but i got distracted with alot of things and so i kept putting them aside to do other projects, but i just wanted to show you what i've done so far :)

Cross stitched buttons, thanks to the free button charts that i got from cross stitcher magazine, i could make these cuties.

I bought more blank buttons on ebay and also bought the aida fabric for cross stitch at my local haberdashery. I then experimented by making the buttons into a pin/badge and a ring, which i think the result is kinda cute :)

but as i said, i need to make alot more if i wanted to sell them in the craft fayre or in my shop, just hope i wont keep putting them aside and do other things :p

I want Her Bookmarks

When i first saw These Bookmarks from the lovely and creative Velvetstrawberries, I fell in love at first sight and thought to myself I want to try to make those! although my results aren't as gorgeous and as vintage-y as hers, i'm so happy that at least now i have cute bookmarks and no more of using whatever at hands when i'm reading such as the top bit of a tissue box or worst fold the corner edge of a book page i'm reading :)

Big thanks to Velvetstrawberries, for the tutorial and sharing on how to make the bookmarks, really appreciate it! i'm re-using bits and pieces of my jewelery that are already broken, i just bought the velvet ribbon and the silver clamps from ebay.

These are just for myself and i made their length longer for bigger books but I'm going to make the length shorter for smaller books to sell at the craft fayre. Will keep you posted once i've finished.

Dominoes Pendant

Remember the Dominoes that I bought awhile back from the charity shop for 40p? i finally could make good use of it and make them as pendants, although unfortunately it's not the tiled ones but rather wooden dominoes, however i'm happy with the result :)

Materials:

* Dominoes (wooden or tiled ones)
* PVC Glue/ Mod Podge (i'm using Mod podge)
* Scrapbook paper/printed images of your choosing
* scissor
* 3D diamond glaze/ I'm using Anita's 3D Clear Gloss Finish Liquid Embossing
* E6000 glue/any strong super glue
* Bails/Findings
* Necklace

I used the theme of Alice in Wonderland simply because i love it and the pendant can be used both sides too :) I'm going to put this in my online shop as soon as i get all the neccessary things as I still dont have enough necklace for each of them.

..and hopefully i'll find the tiled dominoes so i can make more :)

An Easy Craft and a Little Sneak Peek

Remember the wooden tumbling tower game that I bought for 40p at a charity shop awhile back? i finally managed to make good use of it by dividing them into 4 square blocks and glued each piece to make a HOME sign. an Easy Peasy craft and i used my leftover fabric for the word and duck egg paint for the blocks.

...and right now i'm doing the dominoes that i also bought for 40p, will blog about it as soon as i'm finished. Another thing that i'm doing for the past couple of weeks while sitting watching tv after having dinner is....the granny squares!

I don't know when this will be finished though as i need to crochet at least 20 or so more of this squares and hopefully i can combine them into a granny blanket for the winter *fingers crossed*.

Tea Inspired

It's tea time tuesday party again! I always enjoy looking at all wonderful and creative tea party bloggers out there that i'm inspired to try and make this muffin as a company for my tea time with a teapot on top that I created with icing sugar. I must say since i saw one post from my talented fellow blogger Trisha at Sweetology101 of a cupcake she made with a cute teapot on top, I fell in love, although mine isn't as gorgeous as the one she made, I just love everything she makes!

I also want to say thank you to Annwood for sharing a tutorial to make paper teacups, here's my version and again, it's not as lovely as the ones she made but i enjoyed making them.

I'm enjoying my assam tea right now though not from my paper teacup but rather from a mug after devouring the chocolate muffin i made, the weather is gloomy outside so i'll be blog hopping to everyone's blogs for more inspirations. I'm glad that I've sent out my swap gift to my swap partner Pocketfullofdaisys last friday, I'm so nervous and I hope that she'll like the gifts.

I also received a free gift yesterday from WholePort and needs an inspiration on what to make with the gift to submit to them as a part of create-a-thon event they're having. I think they're extending their event till july 14th, so you can request one item from their website for free to be sent to you and join the event.

Sweetology101

Strawberry Scented Soap

I always wanted to make my own scented candles after seeing some posts about it from my lovely blogger friend Florence and Mary but i think i'll wait till winter comes near christmas so I decided to make scented soaps instead, I read the tutorial from "Homemade" Magazine that i bought awhile back, so I'm going to share it with you if you're interested to make them :)

Materials:
*400g white "Melt and Pour" soap base
*2 drops of cranberry liquid color
*50 drops of your choosen fragrance oil (i used strawberry)
*Spray bottle filled with surgical Spirit
*square or rectangular silicone baking mould
*Heart shaped cookie cutter or any other shape
*Ribbons and wooden skewer optional

1. Melt the "Melt and Pour" soap base in a microwave till fully melted and become liquid.

2. Then add your fragrance oil, stir slowly

3. Add your liquid color and stir again.

4. Then pour it onto your baking mould, slowly

5. There will be little bubbles but no worries coz when you spray the surgical spirit the bubbles will disappear, but hey, nothing's perfect :)

6. wait till the soap hardened, i tend to leave it as long as i can but you can always check from time to time up to half hour perhaps? but it doesnt take long for the soap to hardened.

7. took out from the silicone baking mould and start using your cookie cutter to make any shape you want and you can even skewer two holes on it to put ribbon if you desire. That's it! it smells good!

Craft-Tea

Months ago, I came across a blog called Designsponge and it was love at first sight when i saw the teapot lamp she created, so beautiful! I havent been brave enough to follow her tutorial as I dont have a large collections of teapots/cups for making the lamp and if i did, i'm scared of making a mistake and losing my precious china eventhough most i bought in charity shop for cheap prices, still...i dont have the heart to use them for my project.

Until...a few days ago, i dropped one of the teapot that i bought long ago from a charity shop, the lid was chipped a little bit and since i probably bought it for less than £5, i thought to myself, well here's your chance to make that lamp you wanted. So I did..

It's just an experiment so if i failed making it, i'm not too upset about it, I didn't even use teacups to stack on the teapot like in the tutorial, as i said, it's just an experiment. I didn't use a drill either, i just hide the lamp cable behind the teapot, as for the lamp itself, it's also from charity shop that i bought awhile back for £2 including the lamp shade, so all i did was super gluing them inside the teapot and added artificial flowers that i glued on a small plate to keep them in place and so the lamp wont wobble and secured.

I still want to try to make the lamp like in the tutorial though, maybe one day once i have the proper tools and spare china collection to play with. Because of this, I didn't make or bake cakes for my tea time tuesday submission, I do however enjoying the fresh taste of fruit salad consists of strawberries, Melon and papaya with whipped cream on top. Summer is a bliss.
