I know it sounds weird...

...but i'm drinking tea accompanied by apple chutney with biscuits, I finally able to make apple chutney on weekend from the cooking apples that i got from my friend's apple tree and recipe from Jamie Oliver.

I managed to make about 5 jars (used up about 15 apples) which i gave one to my friend who gave me the apples and my in laws (as my mother in law likes to give me her homemade tomatoe chutney that she grown herself) which leave us 3 jars, not so bad at all, though it says that u have to wait at least 2-3 months for them to mature, hubby and i cant wait to taste it so we opened one jar and i must say it tastes yummy!

I'm drinking Lady Grey zesty and bright tea, a pale golden tea infused with refreshing citrus flavours, using a mug from Guildcrest and printable label for the jar from Maize Hutton.

it's 3 more days before my birthday, hubby and i havent planned anything or what to do on my birthday, we're just going to go with the flow and decided on the day as i'm just too excited for my sewing machine that i dont really thought about anything else besides that, i know money is tight right now and though i suggested hubby to buy it on ebay coz we might get it cheaper, but he said he saw one in Argos catalogue that they have a sewing machine that costs about £60 which was fine by me, i'm grateful already. So i can't wait! will keep you posted :)

  1. Hi Susan,
what a lovely tea break you have set. The apple chutney looks delicious. You can safe lots of money with home made preserves. I can understand your hope and happiness about the new sewing machine. That safes lots of money, too. I sewed every curtain for my house and lots of tablecloth, napkins and later the clothes for my children. A sewing machine is really helpful and a profitable investment. I wish you a lot of fun with it and may I say: Happy Birthday to you, although it is a bit early.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  2. I have a load of apples that will soon be ready, I may give this recipe a go as well. Does it have quite a sweet taste to it? I don't blame you for trying some early, I would do the same..I couldn't wait 3 months, I'd be far to curious! I like your pretty labels on it.
I hope you have a Happy Birthday! ( I have a little card on it way to you..hopefully it will reach you in time).
Have fun with the new Sewing Machine. Let me know which one you end up buying. I have bought a few things from Argos, that I have been pleased with. If you check online, they have reviews on the items, which helps a lot. I tend to go for ones with good/high reviews on them and I haven't had a problem with any of them yet.
    Have a lovely week!

  4. I'm a big fan of cheese, biscuits and chutney, but I'm the only one in my house who likes relishes. I made some runner bean chutney the other day to my mum's recipe, but I'm holding out and waiting for it to mature. I'm not allowed to make it again because the whole house reeked of vinegar for days afterwards!

You're going to be so prolific with the sewing machine, I can just tell. Can't wait to see what you create. Hope you have a lovely birthday and plenty of cake! xx

  6. Hello Susan, what a pretty tea mug! Your Apple Chutney sounds yummy. I haven't preserved anything for so long, but seeing yours makes me want to do some again! It is hard to wait the time for them to mature isn't it!

  8. Chutney is something I love trying - there's a brilliant Derbyshire one made locally but I can't remember what it is for the life of me! :-) I bet your friend who gave you the apples was thrilled to get a lovely jar of chutney in return!

I'm so excited on your behalf for your new sewing machine!! :-)
