Paper Mache Shoes Box

While sorting old magazines and newspaper (while the weather is wet and gloomy), I had an idea of using the cath kidston's catalogues that i've been getting every month as a craft project that i saw a long time ago while browsing the internet from someone's blog (cant remember now), i found an old shoes box and use the catalogues as paper mache, i love the result :)

it took me awhile to make it as i was also trying to sort out other old magazines and being surrounded by magazines and cut up magazines can make you abit dizzy and almost gave up and just wanted to throw them all into the recycle bin!

I wanted to cover the inside of the box too but as the time was pressing that my husband was already on the way home from work and i didnt fancy him coming home into a floor covered magazine in the living room, so i just leave it as is and cleared the floor. But i like the look of every sides of the box :)

  1. Oooh looks wonderful sweetie, great idea :)

    Bee happy x

  2. That is so cute Susan! It's very bright and happy...a happy box:)

  3. That's REALLY cute!!! And what a great use for old CK mags (I, too, have a few)!!! ;-)

  4. This is brilliant, very you and great recycling too. I knew it wouldn't be long before you were getting crafty again.

I'd be terrible at anything using magazines though, as I know from experience when I try to do mood boards or rip out images/recipes before recycling that I end up reading them for hours!

    Thanks for linking up xxx

  5. I like..I really like! What a great looks so pretty. I have a few ugly ol' shoe boxes that are crying out for a makeover..I may have to get some magazines :)

I hope you are having a lovely will soon be the weekend, Yay!! :)

    Magie x

  6. Fabulous shoe box, what a great way of recycling old ck catalogues and mags.

  7. Popping in from Tah-Dah tuesday!!! what a cute idea!! I think i NEED to subscribe to getting Cath Kitson catalogs just to use them in cute projects like this!!

  8. Hello Susan!!! I use my Cath Kidston magazine for exactly the same purpose, it was even better when they used to have a strip of one patterned paper as a sort of tab- ever since I wrote to Cath mag saying what I did with their mag though, they've been a bit mean with the large slabs of Cath pattern. Anyway, here they are if you are interested....

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely thoughtful and helpful comment, I was really touched by that! Exciting to be thinking about a baby- the thing I was talking about 'grownup things' was I hope that my boyf and I will get married at some point soon, it's just actually getting him to do something about it rather than just talking about it, hence me being a bit cryptic!!! Lovely to meet you!x

  9. Oooh, I just read your profile!!! Where are you from in Indonesia?! I lived in Bali for a year studying gamelan at the STSI, academy of arts in Denpasar!!!

  10. I'm in Venice on hols at the moment where they sell wonderful marbled paper which would also be great to use but I don't have your skill.

  11. I've done a similar thing before with pictures cut out of old Country Living magazines, but rather less neatly than you! I didn't know you could get a CK catalogue - I can't afford to buy anything from her, but I think the nice pictures will be useful and I can always copy the ideas. So I've just ordered the free catalogue!

  12. Such a beautiful idea, I used to love cutting up my old magazines and making beautiful collages. I would always hoard magazines! xxx

  13. Susan, how perfectly delightful!! A great idea, and yours came out so pretty. Enjoy the blessed time you have to be's precious time, indeed.

    Sending love and hugs,
    Marianne xox
